Just bought a new bike

This weekend i finshed a big consignment project and desided it is now time to get that bike project going.

I got a call on Saturday night that there was a bike for sale around the corner from where i grew up a few towns over.

Sunday me my dad and cbr-rider went over to look at this 1981 Yamaha 650 maxim. It is in pretty good nick and fired right up. After a quick test ride around the guys yard (and having trouble remembering where first is) i was sold. The down side was the guy wanted $1200 wich really isn't bad because it had fresh carb rebuilds and two new tires. the only bad part was that it was a little dirty. It even has a new coat of black metal flake paint on the tank and covers.

I went down today (pouring rain) and offered them $900 cash and they took it. I just have to get to the DMV and get the plates then home it comes.

I know it isn't really a sport bike but my plan is to turn it into a cafe racer. I even found a guy online that fitted a set of Aprilla forks on this model. I'm really pumped to get this project started, i have been dreaming about it for some time now.

I'm going to try this Sunday. That way you or dad can ride back with me. I only have my permit yet. We should plan a ride on sunday, should be fun
